The game of poker was introduced to the United States in the 1850s. After that, the full 52-card English deck was introduced. Other important additions to poker include the straight, draw, and stud types of poker. Other variations include the wild card, lowball and split-pot poker, and community card poker. In the United States, poker spread rapidly, especially in military units.
