Poker

Poker is a game of chance and is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. Players use the five cards in their hand to form the best possible hand. The highest ranking poker hand wins the pot. There are many variations of the game, but all include five card hands.

Players may choose to check, raise, or fold. If a player chooses to raise, they will bet more money into the pot. Some players will bluff by betting their hand is the best.

Each round of betting is made in clockwise order. At the end of a round, a showdown occurs. Cards are revealed to the entire table. When nobody has a pair, the high card breaks the tie. This high card may be the last card dealt.

Before a hand is dealt, a player may shuffle their cards. Any player may choose to deal their own hand or to have a nominal dealer. A nominal dealer is a player who is not one of the players.

Poker cards are ranked from Ace to ten. Wild cards can take any suit. Usually, the highest possible hand is a straight flush. However, if you have an ace high straight-flush, it is called the Royal Flush.

After a hand is dealt, the players can discard up to three cards. They may bluff by calling or matching the first bet.

Once a hand is discarded, the next round of betting begins. Each round is made until a player folds.
